Spadework is a charity that enables people to be more independent, feel less isolated and live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. We provide services to adults with learning and other disabilities, people experiencing problems with their mental health and those living with dementia.
Our Café, Garden Centre, Gift Shed and Farm Shop are open to the public 7 days a week.
Spadework was established as an independent charity in May 1984. The aim of the charity is to provide care, support and meaningful opportunities for adults with learning and other disabilities, to help them gain confidence and to reach their full potential as independent members of the community.
In 2021 we welcomed other beneficiaries on site and we launched “Time to Grow” which is a gardening-focused group activity enabling people to reconnect with nature and other people. We also launched a dementia café enabling people living with dementia, their carers and family to come together and share experiences, knowledge and information.
We stock a range of mostly locally produced food and drink, as well as fresh fruit and veg and eggs and essential store cupboard items like pasta, rice, tea, and coffee.
We sell bread and cakes from Plaxtol Bakery Fruit, veg from LJ Betts (you can also have a veg box delivered to your door) milk, cheese, meat (from Glovers Farm Longfield), locally made chocolate,
ice cream, crisps, and apple juice.
For four weeks of the year in October, our Pumpkin Garden is a must visit
